Now that you have decided to purchase a property of your own, you might be doing a bit of house shopping. You may have been mostly looking at single-family homes, but you might want to consider a condo instead. A few signs that a condo might be the better purchase for you include the following:

1. You'd Rather Not Handle Yard Work

Some people love spending time cutting the grass, using a weed whacker, planting flowers, and more. If you are not one of these people, then you might be hesitant about purchasing a home of your own. This is actually one of the reasons why some people prefer to live in apartments rather than buying their own homes. However, you don't have to avoid buying a home of your own just because you don't like taking care of the yard. Instead, you can choose a condo, where landscaping, snow shoveling, and more should be taken care of for you.

2. You Don't Mind Having Close Neighbors

Of course, one of the downsides of living in a condo is that you will usually have closer neighbors than you would in a single-family home. There are some neighborhoods that have small lots, which means that even single-family homes are close together. However, in general, you are going to be closer to your neighbors in a condo. If you are sensitive about noise, then you might not prefer to have neighbors sharing walls with you. If you don't mind the closeness, though -- such as if you are used to living in an apartment and have generally been happy with it -- then a condo might still be a home for you to consider.

3. You'd Like to Enjoy More Amenities

Some single-family homeowners are able to install their own swimming pools, hot tubs, basketball courts, and other amenities. However, a lot of homeowners are not able to install these things due to lack of funds, space, or other issues. If you choose to purchase a condo, however, you may be able to enjoy more amenities than you would if you owned a single-family home.
